I Googled it and this is what I found: "A sea shanty, shanty, chantey, or chanty (/ˈʃæntiː/) is a genre of traditional folk song that was once commonly sung as a work song to accompany rhythmical labor aboard large merchant sailing vessels." How very delightful.
These sea-chanties are always so beautiful to listen to. We have the Dutch variation of them and the songs are a delight. Thank you, Claudine and bonne journée.
